Andrzej Towpik

(February 1, 1939 in Brest on the Bug) - Polish diplomat. Graduated from the School of Foreign Service in Warsaw and postgraduate studies at Columbia University and receiv ed his doctorate in law at the Jagiellonian University. He worked at the Polish Institute of International Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1975. In the years 1977-1981 he was secretary of embassy in Spain, then-minister counselor at the Polish Mission to the UN Office in Geneva. In 1990, he was director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the European Institutions, and later the political director of the department.
